In this section, I want to look at some of the other ways in which readers have creatively engaged with a body of text in the last two millennia, from the centos tradition of late Antiquity to 21st century poetry generators; from the medieval traditions of the scribe, illumination and marginalia, to contemporary theories of translation. Are these traditions doing the same thing as Eno with his generative music, or Deadmau5’s fans with their stem remixes and ‘owner-authorised’ participatory fan culture? Or is there something else too? Let’s explore
